Santa Eulalia – Ibiza’s Hidden Gem

March 8th 2011 12:55
Ibiza is a part of the Balearic Islands to the east of Spain.

The island has become a real crowd puller when it comes to summer holidays. For the past 30 years or more, holidaymakers have flocked to these shores in search of sun, sand and relaxation which Ibiza offers in abundance. Many also come here each year in search of properties for sale as holiday homes.

There are many beautiful towns on the island all with their own character and charm but one that is often overlooked is the town of Santa Eulalia.

Situated on the East coast of the island, Santa Eulalia is favoured by families with children and for those looking for a quieter experience compared to some of the islands more lively resorts of San Antonio and Ibiza Town.

Santa Eulalia has some lovely features including the promenade which recently enjoyed some investment from the local authorities. The promenade spans the entire length of the beach and is lovely for an evening or morning stroll.

Another lovely site is the port at Santa Eulalia. Here you can see many beautiful yachts and ferries which you can hop onto in order to visit the neighbouring island of Fomenter

If shopping is your thing then you will want to head to Calle San Jaime which is the main street in Santa Eulalia. Here you will be able to find some fantastic little shops to suite all budgets and all a number of street cafes where you can sit and enjoy some coffee and some tapas while watching the world go by.

There is a great “hippy street market” at Passeig de s'Alamera where you are able to shop with the locals for things such as fresh fruit, cheese and meats as well as other odds and ends including beach wear, sunglasses and other holiday essentials.

All in all, if you are planning on visiting Ibiza, then you will find that Santa Eulalia is a peaceful little town which is perfect for those looking for a quieter and more sedate time while visiting the island.
