Top 5 Most Expensive Hotels in Vanuatu

February 16th 2012 16:08
Vanuatu - a tiny island on the eastern edge of the tropical Pacific Ocean. Easily accessible by flight from Australia, Fiji, or New Zealand, this tropical island is a paradise unadulterated by much of the island tourism that has taken over the rest of the world. Vanuatu has a friendly pro-Western population of locals, who are eager to make sure that your stay is as enjoyable as can be. You can choose to stay at some of these most expensive hotels and resorts with Vanuatu holiday packages, and thanks to the exchange rate, while they are the most expensive on the island, they are relatively affordable compared to other island luxury hotels.

1. Casa De Mar, Port Vila

This is a private home for rent, located in the lovely town of Port Vila, located on the south eastern side of the island. Port Vila is the most important cultural and historical center of Vanuatu, which means that you can enjoy the culture of Vanuatu while indulging in pure luxury - in a home-away-from-home kind of style. Sleeping 11, this means you can bring the whole family, or enjoy the expansiveness of this mansion all for yourself (and maybe your special someone). The villa is right on the beach, meaning you can step out into the ocean right from your bedroom. Rates start at AUD$445 a night, and include the use of a 4x4 vehicle, and two housemaids who look to your cleaning and washing needs.

2. The Havannah

This five star boutique resort is everything you were ever looking for - located just 30 minutes from the hustle and bustle of Port Vila. It combines a beachfront location with romantic decor to make for an unforgettable holiday. There is a maximum of 32 guests, which means that there will be no overcrowding at this resort. It is an oasis of relaxation, with 16 air conditioned villas featuring king size beds, flat screen TVs, and outside day beds. Rates start at AUD$470 for a garden villa, to AUD$715 for a waterfront villa.

3. The Reef House

Located 15 minutes from Port Vila, this oceanfront location focuses on outdoor activities such as scuba diving, horse back riding, scenic flights, and game fishing. There is a pool, and the beach is only steps away. This private house has high ceilings with terraces overlooking the ocean, and 5 bedrooms that sleep up to 15 guests in Vanuatu holiday packages. Rates are AUD$550 a night.

4. Le Lagon Resort

This oceanfront resort is a favorite among travelers to the island, thanks to its setting in a 75 acre tropical garden paradise, and located right on the Pacific Ocean's pristine Erakor Lagoon. There are a range of accomodations, from simple rooms, to Garden and Lagoon Bungalows, and also four luxurious suites overlooking the Lagoon, as well as a beachfront suite. Rates for the suites are around AUD$822 a night, worth every last penny.

5. Ratua Private Island

The ultimate in Vanuatu luxury, how about going out to a sixty hectare private island that is a short 30 minute boat ride from Vanuatu? The private island offers fifteen individual 200 year old homes that are brought up to modern standards. There is a stable with fifteen horses that can be rented out to explore the island. The Yacht Club Diner features a world class chef that serves up an inspired menu. Rates are AUD$435 to AUD$735 a night.
