Tourist favorite places and things to do in Entebbe

Entebbe is a small and very quiet city of Uganda. From many years Entebbe has emerged as a prominent city of Uganda and considered as more economically stable then the capital city Kampala. Vacationers around the world take flights to Entebbe and discover the glorious city on their own. The most famous places and things to do in Entebbe from tourism point of view are following;
1. Entebbe International Airport
Entebbe International Airport has become worldwide famous after the Operation Entebbe incident. Tourists who are travelling to Entebbe do visit the place where Operation Entebbe conducted and 100 airplane hostages were rescued. The infamous operation Entebbe was conducted by the Israeli Defense Forces in 1976 after Air France was hijacked by the German and Palestinian organizations. This incident immediately taken worldwide attention and till date is known as one of the terrorist’s most daring act. The Entebbe operation was later on became subject of many high profile movies like The Last King of Scotland, based upon Idi Amin’s life as a president of Uganda.
2. National Botanical Gardens
National Botanical Gardens were laid out in 1898; this makes it one of the oldest Botanical Gardens in the world. National Botanical Gardens are spread over 40 hectares and has taken major attention of the wildlife researchers who take cheap flights to Entebbe for examining the flora and fauna life in Africa. Botanical gardens are split into two zones hence, travelers can see different species of animals and trees. In Botanical Gardens tourist can found rock garden, Bamboo Garden, medicinal garden, Hornbills, Jackfruit tree, Marabou Stork, white & Black Monkey, Cafe Plant and 5o year’s old Termite mounds etc.
3. Boda-Boda (Local Transportation)
Boda-Boda is a major local transportation of the city and it’s like a motorcycle cab. Mostly people travel through Boda-Boda in the city. Boda-Boda was introduced by the government in Entebbe to overcome the heavy traffic issues. The ride on Boda-Boda for foreigners is quite thrilling and unique; it’s more like a fun ride in an amusement park.
4. The State House (President’s Residence)
Entebbe is home to majority of government ministers and civil servants. Actually, the residence of the president of Uganda, normally called “the State House” is also situated in Entebbe. The city of Entebbe is the greenest and cleanest city of Uganda. There are local rules and regulations that have saved the city’s flora and fauna in spite of developments in infrastructure and industries. The inhabitants and local city administrators of Entebbe have succeeded in maintaining an environmentally stable contemporary city, where much of the old culture still exists.
5. Hiking
Hiking or trekking is a favorite activity of the wealthy people living in Entebbe. There are many rainforest and parks where people can go for hiking. Tourists who are not very fond of adventure can go on walk or stroll to Lake Victoria. As the city is situated at the shores of Lake Victoria it’s very easy to find, mostly visitors spend their morning and evening on the shores of Lake Victoria.
