Year Round Lanzarote Villa Holidays

July 15th 2010 15:39
The Spanish islands make some of the most popular holiday destinations in Europe for British tourists. During the summer months, the Balearic Islands see regular influxes of visitors arriving for a week or two of Mediterranean sun.

Whilst the Canaries welcome holidaymakers from the UK all year round, thanks to the amazing climate these seven islands enjoy. Lanzarote, Tenerife and Gran Canaria have long been the favourite place to come for those in need of winter sunshine.

Of the Canaries, Lanzarote is perhaps the most unique, although each island has a distinct character and culture. As the most eastern of the islands, Lanzarote certainly has the lowest rainfall and its volcanic history gives it some of the most unusual landscapes of the region.

Visitors to this island will find themselves spoilt for choice when it comes to Lanzarote accommodation. As there is a huge range of self-catering rentals which cover everything from compact studios to full size Spanish villas.

So for those who prefer a degree of privacy and space to spread out, renting one of the many holiday villas in Lanzarote usually combines the best aspects of comfort and independence.

The main three holiday resorts have a good selection of villas in each, with most located either centrally or close to the beach. However, the island’s small geographical size makes it very easy to negotiate, even for those holidaymakers who decide to stay in a rural villa.

The quiet roads and low cost of car hire in Lanzarote make it the obvious choice for the more independent visitor. As a rental car dispenses with the need for airport transfers and opens up the whole island to be explored.

And despite its small size, there is a good amount to see on Lanzarote. From numerous beautiful and unspoiled beaches to the various tourist attractions that have been designed to show off the island and its history, there is plenty to make car hire worthwhile.

Most first time visitors quickly become aware that much of the island’s attractions and art works are the product of one man, Cesar Manrique. As an artist, architect and designer, there is little Manrique could not achieve.

His legacy includes some of the most imaginative buildings and gardens to be seen anywhere in Europe. Whilst his far sighted understanding of tourism has stopped the island from being drowned in concrete, unlike several of its neighbours.
